Ode to W.S. Merwin

'Separation'

Your absence has gone through me
Like thread through a needle.
Everything I do is stitched with its color.

-- W.S. Merwin

I love that. I read it over and over and cannot seem to stop. It creates such a beautiful and strong image.

Happy Holidays!

"Love is what I got..."

HAH. Now that i've lured you in, I'm sorry, I don't have love for you...but I DO have an amusing anecdote.

So today I was watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians- trust me, I do not say this with pride, but hey it's entertaining- and my mother walked into the room.

Here's how it went down;
Mom: *after looking at the TV* Yuck, what are you watching.
Me: Keeping Up With the Kardashians! Wanna watch?
Mom: Nah, I like Kendra better.

OH GOOD GOD.
I have included a clip a Kendra, just so you can really taste the humor in this bad boy!

Yes, I am responsible for that road kill...

I have been up since 7:30am.
Sure 7:30 may not seem THAT early, but for a college student on break...TRUST ME, IT IS.

Anywho, I woke up mighty early and drove 45 minuets south, to meet a collegiate friend at the Tacoma Mall, in efforts to help him shop for Christmas. I then drove 45 minuets north in the efforts to go home.

This is when disaster struck. I was driving my other friend Amy home when she started whimpering. Amy is a big fan of animals and tends to whimper every time she sees one, so naturally I assumed she saw someone walking a dog. So I said "What Amy, did you see a dog?!" She responded "No. You just ran over a squirrel."

If I had the ability, this would've been the perfect time for sound effects, a dramatic DUN DUN DUN, would have really added to the situation.

Anyways, I killed a squirrel. Since then I have been stuck in between laughter and hysterics. I want to cry because I hate the fact that I killed a mammal (it would've been cool if it was a snake, crow, or bug) and I want to laugh because the fact that I just killed a squirrel is kinda funny.

But here's the worrisome part; I had no idea that I killed it. Amy is the only reason I am aware of it's death. This information leads me to ask myself...How many squirrels have I killed in my driving lifetime? Was this the first? Will it be the last? How do I pay tribute to the fallen solider?

All I can say is Mr/Ms.Squirrel, family of Mr/Ms.Squirrel, I am terribly sorry!
But I cannot promise that it won't happen again.

"I got into this business so I wouldn't have to work."

Let me tell you about my most recent love affair/obsession.

Entourage, the HBO series.

I love it. I love it so much.
I love the characters-- they're so edgy and full of sass.
The plot, the drama and the comedy. The cinematography works with the style perfectly, the acting is awesome and the soundtrack in AMAZING. It's all fantastic.
But mostly, I love the look inside the business of hollywood.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and watch some more Entourage.

Shleep?

Sleep is waiting for me. I can feel it behind my eyelids. My head is on my pillow. The blanket is covering my legs.
God. This bed beats the hell out of dorm life.
Sleep is waiting for me, however I continue to fiddle around on my computer.

Good God, when did I start procrastinating with my sleep habits?

G'NIGHT.

Dog Fever!

I'm in love with this dog. It's called a Puggle, it's a cross between a Beagle and a Pug.

I'm going to get one in the next two years and name it, Bruce Willis.
Because he will look just like Bruce Willis.

See what I mean?

CUTE!

The cutest things I can think of:

Not cute, but SO thug.

11:32 am

"Waking up dead, inside of my head
Would never, never do, there is no med
No medicine to take
I’ve had a chance to be insane
Asylum from the falling rain
I’ve had a chance to break

It’s so bad, it’s got to be good
Mysterious girl misunderstood
Dressed like a wedding cake
Any other day and I might play
A funeral march for Bonnie Bray
Why try and run away?

Slow cheetah come before my forest,
Look like it's on today
Slow cheetah come, it's so euphoric,
No matter what they say

I know a girl, she worked in a store
She knew not what her life was for
She barely knew her name
They tried to tell her she would never be
As happy as a girl in a magazine
She bought it with her pay

Slow cheetah come before my forest,
Look like it's on today
Slow cheetah come, it's so euphoric,
No matter what they say

Everyone has so much to say
They talk, talk, talk their lives away
Don’t even hesitate
Walking on down to the burial ground
It’s a very old dance with a merry old sound
Looks like its on today

Slow cheetah come before my forest,
Look like it's on today
Slow cheetah come, it's so euphoric,
No matter what they say

Slow cheetah come before my forest,
Look like it's on today
Slow cheetah come, it's so euphoric,
No matter what they say"

12:38 AM

It's 12:38 AM and I'm feeling a great deal of love for the art of words.
Like melodies, some words just flow together beautifully, seamlessly, and they deliver a feeling, and a series of chills.

Language
Certain words now in our knowledge we will not use again, and we will never forget them. We need them. Like the back of the picture. Like our marrow, and the color in our veins. We shine the lantern of our sleep on them, to make sure, and there they are, trembling already for the day of witness. They will be buried with us, and rise with the rest.

For Your Consideration....

So I usually don't post two blogs in one day, but I felt the need.

I go to college in the middle of nowhere. Yesterday I actually went to Fred Meyer's for strictly entertainment purposes... So i've really been developing my taste is music over the past few months. I love adding new music to my collection.
I also go through musical phases.

Here's who made the current cut:

Wilco
Wilco Pictures, Images and Photos
Wilco was formed in 1994, by members of the alternative country group Uncle Tupelo. The band members changed frequently up until 2004, but does not change the way I feel about them. I've currently been listening to their album Blue Sky Blue. On that album, I love Either Way & Impossible Germany. If you're a fan of Spoon, or The Shins I would definitely check them out, because if Spoon and The Shins got together, Wilco would be their love child.

The Smiths
The Smiths Pictures, Images and Photos
The Smiths were formed in Manchester in 1982. It has been said that they're one of the most important bands to emerge from Britain's independent music scene. What I love about them is the contradictions in their songs. For the most part, the music is gentle, but the lyrics often carry bitter messages. The contradictions and flow of the melodies make this band (in my opinion) genius! A few songs you should definitely check out are: There Is A Light That Never Goes Out or The Hand That Rocks The Cradle !

The Temper Trap
Photobucket
These are some seriously awesome aussies!. I discovered them on the (500) Days of Summer soundtrack just several months ago, and they are already one of my favorite bands. If you're into, Coldplay, Muse, or Passion Pit YOU DEFINITELY NEED TO CHECK THESE GUYS OUT. The rest of the world will soon be in love with them - trust me - so get ahead of the game and go out and purchase (yes it is worth the $$$$) their one and only album Conditions. If you're not ready for that kind of commitment, try starting off with Fader or Sweet Disposition . I promise you will not be disappointed!

Enjoy!

Oh! One more thing! When I was searching the web for a picture of The Temper Trap, I found another awesome music blog. I'll give you the link but you must continue to love me!

Ode to December...kinda

Oh December.
So far you have treated me well.

The eve of your arrival (yesterday) was splendid, yes I did sleep through my first class (my bizzle) but I did get some excellent study time in (hah!)and I tried the creamy excellence of 'soup at hand' for the first time in years YEARS.

Today, has already proven to be joyous, and it's not even over. I awoke at 8:04am giving me an ample amount of time to get ready for my 9am class. I am wearing a product of my Black Friday escapades (I'll tell you bout that later) and my hair is feeling very soft.
It's 1:15pm and I am laying in bed, snuggling with my new blanket made of sweatshirt material, enjoying a nonfat vanilla latte (i've recently discovered that nonfat lattes taste better) MMMMMMMMMM TUESDAY BLISS.
I have a mountain of homework to get started on, but a large portion of that is writing, and as you can probably tell the words are following easily and gracefully right now.

On to my weekend.
IT WAS GREAT.
Wednesday was comprised of playing with puppies, catching up with friends, getting a new cell phone, and playing the most ridiculous game of apples to apples EVER.

Thursday was a mighty day of feasting.
I started my day with the thanksgiving day parade, as I do every year. Hours later I ate copious amounts of seasonal food, and then retreated to a friends house to play with puppies, yet again.

Friday was a long day.
I awoke at 4am, yes, 'am' still means 'morning', hopped into a friends car and voyaged to the local shopping mall.
There in a state of deliriousness I purchased:
A dress (wore it yesterday)
A scarf (wore it the day before yesterday)
A ring (wore it yesterday AND the day before)
and a tshirt (wearing right now!)
and all for a modest price.
Admittedly, I probably wouldn't have purchased the ring or tshirt if I was fully conscious, but I like them regardless.

This has been a rather long blog entry, and I see no where to place a picture -which is disappointing- so I feel the need to wrap it up now and save some wordy magic for my paper.

Tata!
