So bad it's good....

Let's talk taste.

I don't want to sound pompous, but my taste is usually pretty good. I know good music when I hear it, I can analyze and critique the crap out of a movie, and I have always had a decent sense of style.

However, recently a new "genre" (if you could call it that) has caught my attention, this "genre" being under-reaching, poorly written, poorly executed crap.
Disney Channel (yes, Disney Channel) recently premiered a made for TV movie called StarStruck, now it's no secret that Disney Channel movies have been going down hill for well over five years. High School Musical was an unexpected exception, and nothing has been good since then, and the movie StarStruck is no exception. I love it. I love the cookie cutter pop stars, poor comedic timing, and mostly, the crappy-boy band-style throwback. I cannot stop listening to the soundtrack, it's horrible, and for some reason I find it inciting and delicious.

Let me give you a little taste of the poetry that is the lyrical aspect of this scrumptious noise:
This is where I should be
There aint no other place yeah
Will my soul release please
There aint no other way
I can feel it singin movin shakin
Gotta go where the music takes me
Let it set me free
You got to believe

Ahhh, so beautiful.

Okay, moving on to another exemplary example of bad taste:

MY LIFE AS LIZ
OMG. COULD I LOVE SOMETHING MORE THAN I LOVE THIS SHOW?!?! The answer is of course, no.
Here's why this 30 minute segment of awesome get's my heart racing:
1. It's obviously scripted. Like really, I usually try and lie to myself in situations like these, just to make the show more enjoyable...but in the case I can't, there is no way in hell it is not scripted (I mean they do slow motion glamor shots for crying out loud!) and that just makes me love it more.
2. Liz, the protagonist that they follow. She is fantastic, she has awesome style, her hair is excellent (don't be surprised if I dye my hair that color hah!) And her reactions and one liners are HILARIOUS. I love you Liz, I want to be you.
3. Bryson, this is Bryson:

His words are much too wise to come out of the toolish body he poorly maintains (and dresses for that matter), and by wise, I of course mean cheesy. Bryson, I love you, but not as much as my # four reason for loving this show.
4. Liz's hair. Yes, it deserves it's own bullet point. I not only love her hair for the outstandingly fantastic color that it is, but the fact that it embodies and mirrors her personality flawlessly. AHHHH, LOVE IT.

I have now shared with you the guiltiest of my guilty pleasures.
But before you go judging me, let me assure that my style has not plummeted, dipped, or gone down hill in anyway.

In fact today I was pursuing the website of my FAVORITE clothing store Urban Outfitters (as I do at least once a week) and I found a beanie and graphic T for only $8 cumulatively, so I bought them.

And I'm getting a hair cut tomorrow, I haven't had any layers in my hair since october and it's time for some bangs!

But for now, I must sleep!

Tata,

~ Your friend with FABULOUS taste

P.S Go youtube StarStruck and watch the music video for the song StarStruck <3<3<3

  1. Only you can fill a blog of this much space with commentary on Disney channel and reality tv, although there is something to be said for Disney's slowly changing moral standards in original film... The "fame or friends" theme has been the only one utilized for years, they need something newwww...
